Turn on every light and outlet, then switch breakers off one at a time and note what goes dark. Give each breaker its circuit number and load (CCT 14 KITCHEN COUNTER, RTU-1), mark spares as SPARE, and use red for anything that must stay on. Then engrave the list so it outlives the pencil on the door.
The circuit number or numbers, and what the breaker feeds: RTU-1, LP-2A, EV CHARGER 1. For feeders and mains add the rating and where it is fed from. The Canadian Electrical Code (Rule 2-100) asks for every circuit to be identified, and an engraved tag is the label that is still readable at the next inspection.
A lamacoid is a two-ply engraving laminate: a coloured top layer over a contrasting core. The laser cuts through the top layer to expose the core, so the lettering is part of the tag instead of ink or vinyl sitting on top of it. No fading, no peeling, no smudged marker.
Black with white letters is the usual standard for breaker and panel ID. Red is used for fire alarm, emergency and do-not-turn-off circuits, and in data centres blue and red mark the A and B feeds. Follow your spec where it names colours; every stocked pair is available.
